The Senate is entering one of its busiest stretches before lawmakers leave Washington for the August recess, with several of President Donald Trump’s top nominees finally set to face confirmation hearings.The hearings could determine who fills some of the administration’s most important national security, law enforcement, public health, and defense positions as Republicans work to complete Trump’s team.Beginning Monday, the Senate will hold a series of confirmation hearings for several high-profile Trump nominees, including Jay Clayton for director of national intelligence, Todd Blanche for attorney general, Erica Schwartz for director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Keith Sonderling for labor secretary and Jay Hurst for Pentagon comptroller.Senate Republicans have made filling the remaining vacancies a priority before lawmakers adjourn for the August recess.Among the most closely watched hearings will be Wednesday’s confirmation hearing for Jay Clayton, whom Trump nominated to become the permanent director of national intelligence following Tulsi Gabbard’s resignation in June.Advertisement Clayton’s nomination has already experienced an unusual delay.The Senate Intelligence Committee had originally planned to hold his confirmation hearing on June 17, only for Trump to personally request that the process be postponed until Jamie McDonald was confirmed as U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York.Following Trump’s request, Intelligence Committee Chairman Tom Cotton announced the hearing would be delayed.“It is regrettable that the president has directed Jay Clayton not to appear at his confirmation hearing today,” Cotton said at the time.Cotton nevertheless praised Clayton as “a patriot and a highly qualified nominee.”The Senate initially sought to accelerate Clayton’s confirmation after Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act expired in June.Section 702 authorizes intelligence agencies to collect communications involving foreign targets overseas, including situations where Americans are communicating with those individuals, without obtaining traditional warrants.Republican leaders have expressed confidence Clayton will be confirmed.Senate Majority Leader John Thune previously called Clayton “a really good pick” and praised both his experience and qualifications.Even Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer largely avoided criticizing Clayton personally, instead saying he supported replacing Acting DNI Bill Pulte.Also appearing Wednesday will be Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, whom Trump nominated after appointing him to lead the Justice Department in April.Blanche previously served for 15 years in various Justice Department positions before entering private practice, where he represented Trump in several criminal cases between 2023 and 2024.His confirmation process has drawn questions from some Republican senators.Sen. TBInfo First user · July 20, 2026 · Uncategorized Kryeministri Edi Rama këtë të hënë po zhvillon një takim në Qendrën Sociale “Jonathan” ku në fokus është mbështetja ekonomike e fëmijëve dhe të rinjve me aftësi të kufizuar.Rama gjatë fjalës së tij u shpreh se plani Kombëtar i Veprimit për Personat me Aftësi Ndryshe 2026-2030 parashikon dyfishimit e mbështetjes ekonomike, më shumë shërbime në komunitet, akses më të lehtë në arsim, punësim dhe rehabilitim, si dhe mbështetje më të madhe për jetesë të pavarur.Ai theksoi se 11.000 fëmijë dhe të rinj që do të përfitojnë nga kjo masë. Ndër të tjera, Rama theksoi se buxheti i shtetit do të paguajë sigurimet shoqërore dhe shëndetësore për të gjitha nënat të cilët kanë fëmijë me aftësi të kufizuar.“Ishte bërë një kohë e gjatë që mbështetja për këta fëmijë ishte bërë e pamjaftueshme. Jo se ishte dhe jo se është e mjaftueshme, se s’është asnjëherë mjaft, por ishte bërë realisht e pamjaftueshme, duke pasur parasysh edhe kostot e jetesës, edhe vështirësitë e tjera. Dhe e premtuam dyfishimin e mbështetjes për ta dhe jam shumë i lumtur që sot mbështetja për ta është dyfishuar.Nuk janë pak, janë 11.000 fëmijë dhe të rinj që do të përfitojnë nga kjo masë. Por përtej kësaj kemi marrë dhe një masë tjetër të rëndësishme, që ishte një kërkesë e vazhdueshme dhe nga ju për kujdestarët.Sepse një nënë që i përkushtohet një fëmije me aftësi të veçanta, e ka të pamundur të shkojë rregullisht në punë siç shkojnë nënat e tjera. Dhe duke qenë se nuk shkon në punë, përballet me problemin e mungesës së sigurimeve shoqërore dhe shëndetësore, gjë që e cenojnë pastaj padrejtësisht edhe mundësinë për të marrë një pension të merituar nesër apo për të pasur akses në sistemin shëndetësor ashtu si duhet. Kështu që ne vendosëm po ashtu që shteti, buxheti i shtetit t’i paguajë sigurimet shoqërore dhe shëndetësore për të gjitha nënat”, tha ai ndër të tjera.
