Why the Candida Auris Fungus is Raising Alarms Across 23 States

Cases of a potentially deadly fungus have been detected in 23 states so far this year, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

As of July 18, there have been 3,130 cases of Candida auris (C. auris) identified. This is consistent with the 3,348 figure detected at the same time last year.

Texas has recorded the most cases with 706, followed by Michigan with 503 and Illinois with 366.
