Jason Lewis Reveals Unexpected Twist in 'Sex and the City' Romance

Share Post

The Absolute Hunk has spoken.

Jason Lewis shared a hot take on his “Sex and the City” character Smith Jerrod’s relationship with Kim Cattrall’s character, Samantha Jones, years after seemingly picking sides in the actress’s feud with Sarah Jessica Parker.

In a promotional Instagram video for Owl’s Brews, the author made several references to the on-screen couple’s romance.

At one point, a woman bearing a striking resemblance to Cattrall walks past Lewis, and he teases that he still has a type.

One fan commented beneath the Monday reel, “that Samantha call back was EVERYTHINGGGGG!! He knows his base.”

Lewis responded, “Smith was nothing without her.”

The clip starts off with the actor stepping out of a taxi in New York City, and asking the camera, “Did you miss me?”

Elsewhere in the video, Lewis references his character’s nickname, “The Hunk,” and is offered sushi for lunch — a nod to the scene in the 2008 movie where Samantha waited for Smith to come home while covered in sushi.

Another follower gushed in the comments section, “In an alternate reality smith and Samantha made it they were end game in my book.”

Lewis — who has spent the past three years living Costa Rica and writing a fantasy series — starred as an aspiring actor and male model on the cult classic series.

His character struck up a romance with Samantha, who convinced him to change his name from Jerry Jerrod to Smith.

Samantha skyrocketed Smith’s career, using her connections to land him a massive modeling gig. The campaign then catapulted him into a major motion picture.

What started off as a fling turned into a serious romance, with Smith even standing by Samantha as she battled breast cancer in Season 6 of the series.

The series ended in 2004 with the pair still together.

However, in 2008’s “Sex and the City” movie, the characters split after Samantha moved to Los Angeles.

In the 2010 sequel, Smith returns to accompany Samantha to a movie premiere — as a friend.

Despite Lewis’ love for his on-screen romance, in 2018, the model stuck up for Parker, who notoriously clashed with Cattrall during the series that ran from 1998 until 2004.

“I would have to say that Sarah was always just so lovely and such a consummate professional,” he said during a KTLA interview at the time. “I think that people should remember their graciousness and the things that have been given to them.”

Lewis added that he was going to “stop there” because he had “nothing good to say.”

The news anchor then commented that it seemed like the star was “Team Sarah.”

Lewis concurred, responding, “I might just have to say yeah. What a gracious lady. She was always so good to me.”

Rumors of Parker’s feud with Cattrall came to a head after the latter’s brother was found dead after going missing in 2018.

At the time, the “Hocus Pocus” star sent her condolences via Instagram.

“I don’t need your love or support at this tragic time @sarahjessicaparker,” Cattrall scathingly responded.

“Let me make this VERY clear (If I haven’t already),” she continued. “You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your ‘nice girl’ persona.”

In 2022, Parker called the rift with Cattrall “very painful.”

She alleged their issues only began in 2017 when the “Mannequin” star made certain demands before signing on for a third film in the franchise.

“They didn’t feel comfortable meeting where she wanted to meet, and so we didn’t do the movie because we didn’t want to do it without Kim,” Parker claimed while on THR’s “Awards Chatter” podcast at the time.

Cattrall, meanwhile, alleged she turned down the movie over a d–k pic storyline between Samantha and Miranda’s teenage son, Brady.

While the franchise later continued with a 2021 sequel series, the actress wasn’t asked back for “And Just Like That….” It starred Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis, and ran until 2025.

“We did not ask her to be part of this because she made it clear that that wasn’t something she wanted to pursue, and it no longer felt comfortable for us, and so it didn’t occur to us,” Parker stated.
