Details of the Incident
Bear, 38, mentioned that he couldn't confirm the report but stated that his brother was seen near or in a river and later floating down it. Police were notified and are searching for a body.
According to Bear, witnesses reported seeing Matt and believe it was him. Bear mentioned that Matt had been dealing with substance abuse issues for a long time.
Family Concerns
Bear said he occasionally spoke to Matt and encouraged him towards sobriety. The last encounter was at Walmart, where Matt later admitted to falling off the wagon. Bear advised him to get back on track.
Matt was reportedly going through a difficult breakup, contributing to his struggles. Despite their differences, Bear asked for respect toward their mother, Ami Brown.
Official Response and Social Media Activity
The Okanogan County Sheriff Office in Washington announced they received a 911 call about a man seen in the Okanogan River. Officers searched but faced challenging conditions due to current water levels.
A message appeared on Matt's alleged Facebook account with an uplifting note, though Bear claimed these accounts were scams impersonating Matt.
