Teacher Arrested for Alleged Assault on Student

A teacher in Tennessee, Meg Day, was arrested and charged with assault after allegedly dragging a nonverbal student across a rug. The incident left the student with a "blood red mark."

The arrest occurred on April 16, nearly a month after the McNairy County Sheriff’s Office received reports of an attack at Selmer Elementary School.

Details of the Incident

Witnesses reported that Day, 49, dragged a 9-year-old boy by his lower body across a rug. Another school employee noticed the student reaching for his back and later discovered the mark.

An investigation concluded that the boy had suffered from "carpet burn." The school principal and assistant principal subsequently contacted law enforcement.

Response and Ongoing Investigations

Day was arrested but has since been released. It is unclear if she has entered a plea or secured legal representation. The McNairy County Sheriff’s Office has not commented on the case.

This incident happened shortly after another alleged assault involving Sequoia Ann Hively at Selmer Middle School. Police investigations into these cases are ongoing, with updates expected as more information becomes available.
