"DWTS' Surprise Move: Searching for the Next Pro Before Season 35"
The Dancing With the Stars franchise is expanding with a new spinoff series, DWTS: The Next Pro, set to air this summer. ABC announced that the show will feature dancers competing for a spot as a pro on the main series.
New Competition Format
DWTS: The Next Pro will showcase 12 emerging dancers living together and undergoing intense auditions. They are all aiming to secure a position as professional dancers on season 35 of Dancing With the Stars.
The series will be hosted by current DWTS champion Robert Irwin, joined by Mark Ballas and his mother Shirley Ballas as judges. Shirley is also known for her role as head judge on Strictly Come Dancing in England.
Judges and Guests
Alongside Mark and Shirley Ballas, a rotating panel of guest judges will contribute to the show, many already associated with Dancing With the Stars. Irwin expressed excitement about this unique format where top dancers compete for a coveted spot.
Upcoming Season Details
Dancing With the Stars returns for its 35th season with celebrity contestants including Ciara Miller and Maura Higgins. DWTS: The Next Pro premieres Monday, July 13, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, with streaming available the following day on Hulu.
Robert Irwin's previous win was achieved alongside pro partner Witney Carson during season 34. The duo used their freestyle dance to express gratitude for their journey on the show.
