Florida Man Reacts Fatally After Stepdaughter’s Criticism
A Florida man, James Pelzer, was arrested for allegedly fatally shooting his stepdaughter, Alanda Cuffee, after she criticized his manners.
Incident Details
The incident occurred in Escambia County on April 19, when Pelzer called 911 to report the shooting. Deputies arrived at the residence around 10:30 a.m. and found Pelzer outside, who surrendered without incident. Inside, Cuffee was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation Findings
Cuffee's mother revealed she was present during the incident and described a brief exchange about Pelzer's failure to say "excuse me" before he returned with a handgun and shot Cuffee. Sheriff Chip Simmons stated that the altercation stemmed from movement within the house.
Pelzer reportedly expressed regret, saying, "I messed up bad," but during her prayers over Cuffee, Pelzer instructed her mother to "be quiet."
Background and Legal Proceedings
Pelzer's wife mentioned his history of anger issues but noted he had not been physically violent before. Authorities recovered a Ruger .380 handgun at the scene. Pelzer is being held in Escambia County Jail without bond, pending a court appearance on May 8.
