Olivia Munn Reveals Male Costar's Refusal to Let Her Save Him On Set
Olivia Munn recently shared a challenging experience on a film set involving a male costar who objected to her character saving his. The incident was discussed on The Drew Barrymore Show.
On-Set Disagreement
Munn, appearing on the April 8 episode, recounted an altercation with an unnamed male actor. During a scene where her character was supposed to save his by shooting an attacker, the costar interrupted filming because he did not want a woman to save him.
The actor seemed surprised by the script despite rehearsals and became combative, causing a 45-minute delay in filming. Munn eventually eased tensions by suggesting a minor change in the scene's framing while keeping her action the same.
Munn's Career Choices
In her conversation with Drew Barrymore, Munn mentioned she intentionally selects roles that break away from traditional stereotypes and do not portray women negatively.
She stated that it is important for her to take parts where female characters can stand independently of their male counterparts' stories.
Previous Experiences in Hollywood
Earlier this month, Munn alleged that Alec Baldwin prevented her from joining 30 Rock. She claimed she was initially cast but ultimately replaced due to Baldwin's concerns about her age compared to his character's love interest. Despite this setback, Munn felt reassured by receiving an offer from influential figures such as Tina Fey and Robert Carlock.
Munn also reflected on past offers to sign NDAs under significant monetary incentive after challenging situations on set but chose not to stay silent. For more details, read about Olivia Munn’s experience with set drama here.
