Ben’s Animals Documentary Debuts in NYC!

“Ben’s Animals,” a documentary about autism, art, and advocacy, premieres in New York City during International Autism Month. The film showcases Canadian autistic artist Ben Lachapelle and his connection to animals as a catalyst for change.

Film Premiere Details

The documentary is directed by Evan Beloff and will debut at Culture Lab LIC in Queens on Saturday, April 4. Following the screening, a Q&A session with Lachapelle, Beloff, and co-writer Noah Leon will take place.

Story and Themes

The film explores themes of creativity, identity, and how art can connect individuals from isolation to community. It highlights the challenges faced by families dealing with neurodivergence within a flawed support system.

Artistic Presentation

“Ben’s Animals” combines hand-drawn animation, personal interviews, and storytelling in a cinéma vérité style. An accompanying exhibition will feature live drawing demonstrations by Lachapelle.
