Cardi B Celebrates Victory as Judge Tosses Out Copyright Case
Cardi B is relieved as a Texas federal judge dismisses the lawsuit against her hit song "Enough (Miami)." The case alleged similarities with the track "Greasy Frybread," but fell apart due to lack of evidence.
Lawsuit Against Cardi B Dismissed
Producers Joshua Fraustro and Miguel Aguilar accused Cardi B of copying elements from their track "Greasy Frybread." However, the court dismissed the claims on Monday, citing insufficient facts.
Copyright Issues and Jurisdiction
The lawsuit struggled since "Greasy Frybread" was not registered with the U.S. Copyright Office, leading to a loss of federal standing. Plaintiffs attempted to use Texas state laws, but Judge Fernando Rodriguez Jr. stated that performances in Texas did not establish jurisdiction.
No Evidence Against Cardi B
The judge labeled the claims against Cardi B as "defective" and noted there was no factual evidence of interference by Cardi or her record labels, Atlantic Records and Warner Music Group.
Fans can be assured that "Enough (Miami)" remains part of her successful album "Am I the Drama?" without further legal challenges. Read more here.
