Trump Gives US Ambassador to Greece a Surprising Nickname
Donald Trump revealed a unique nickname for the U.S. ambassador to Greece during a Greek Independence Day event at the White House.
Unveiling the Nickname
Kimberly Guilfoyle, appointed ambassador last September, attended the celebration alongside Trump. During the ceremony, Trump invited her on stage and shared that he calls her "Kimber-lay" as a personal nickname.
Their past relationship was noted, with Guilfoyle and Donald Trump Jr. ending their engagement in December 2024. Previously, she had been married to Gavin Newsom from 2001 to 2006 and is now with businessman Eric Villency.
US–Greece Ties Celebrated
The White House highlighted the strong ties between the United States and Greece on Greek Independence Day, citing shared values rooted in both ancient and modern history. America’s founding principles were influenced by Greek philosophy, affecting democratic foundations.
The contribution of Greek American communities to U.S. society through traditions of family, faith, hospitality, and civic values was also praised.
Strategic Cooperation Emphasized
Greece is recognized as an important NATO ally. The administration expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for collaboration in energy, technology, logistics, and defense sectors.
The statement mentioned U.S. naval operations at Souda Bay and joint military exercises as key elements enhancing security in Europe. It honored Greek independence and celebrated the commitment to democracy shared by both nations.
