Billy Ray Cyrus Absent from 'Hannah Montana' Anniversary Special
Miley Cyrus attended the "Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary" special premiere in Los Angeles with her family, but her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, was noticeably absent despite appearing in the trailer.
Family Presence and Absences
Miley was joined by her mother, Tish Cyrus, and sister, Brandi. Their partners Maxx Morando, Dominic Purcell, and Matt Southcombe also attended. Notably missing were Miley's brothers Trace, Christopher, and Braison, as well as her younger sister Noah.
The premiere saw Miley dazzling in a silver dress paired with a crop top featuring her character from the show, while wearing a blonde wig reminiscent of Hannah Montana's look.
Family Strains and Reconnection
Billy Ray's absence follows past tensions between him and Miley after his divorce from Tish in 2022. The split strained Miley's relationship with her father, which she has acknowledged publicly.
Noah and Braison previously skipped Tish's wedding to Dominic Purcell, where Miley served as Maid of Honor. This contributed to ongoing family tensions.
Mending Relationships
Despite challenges, Miley reconciled with Billy Ray in May 2025 during brother Braison’s birthday celebration. The reunion came after years of family drama described by Miley as a "dark decade."
In September 2025, Miley released "Secrets," dedicating the song to her father as a peace offering. Billy Ray expressed gratitude for the gesture.
The "Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special" is available on Disney+ and Hulu.
