Man Finds Friend Dead by Outdoor Spa After Tracing Her Ringtone: Police Report
An Indiana man has been charged with murder after allegedly killing his girlfriend with the blunt side of an ax outside her home. Travis Wolfe, 45, was arrested in connection with the death of 51-year-old Kimberly Stewart.
Incident Details
The incident occurred on the 1300 block of South Lynhurst Drive in Indianapolis, where both Stewart and Wolfe were staying. According to a friend, the couple frequently argued, including a dispute about a car repair. The friend discovered Stewart's body after not hearing from her as expected.
Discovery and Investigation
Authorities were alerted around 11 p.m. on Tuesday when officers found Stewart deceased in the backyard with signs of trauma. An autopsy confirmed she died from blunt force trauma. Wolfe was located by police approximately three hours later and taken into custody.
Evidence and Charges
Wolfe reportedly denied hitting Stewart with an ax but admitted to leaving their residence after an argument. A witness claimed to see Wolfe wielding an object in the backyard around the time of Stewart's death, which contributed to his arrest on murder charges early Thursday morning.
The Indianapolis Metro Police Department credited community collaboration and investigative efforts for the swift charge against Wolfe. "A dangerous individual is in custody today," said IMPD Deputy Chief Kendale Adams.
