Share Post

Former NBA player Glen "Big Baby" Davis spoke publicly for the first time after his early release from prison, where he served 17 months for fraud. Davis was initially sentenced to 40 months for allegedly filing false medical claims.

Fraud Conviction

Davis and over 20 others were convicted in a scheme that generated more than $5 million through fraudulent claims submitted to the NBA Players’ Health and Benefit Welfare Plan. Prosecutors described it as a typical fraudulent scheme despite the high profile of those involved.

Prison Release and Transition

Following his release, Davis will stay at the Long Beach Residential Reentry Management Office for four months as part of his transition back to society. He is required to participate in financial management classes and drug treatment.

Court Hearings and Statements

Davis was permitted to delay his sentence start so he could finish filming a documentary, intending to use proceeds to repay restitution. During his sentencing hearing, his financial struggles were highlighted.

Basketball Career

Davis played college basketball at LSU and won an NBA Championship with the Boston Celtics in 2008. His professional career included time with the Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Lakers before retiring in 2019.
