$12.4M Boost for Youth Mental Health Center by Jason Lee's Foundation

The Hollywood Cares Foundation has secured over $12 million in state funding to construct a new youth behavioral health facility in Stockton, California. This project aims to expand access to mental health resources for young people and their families.

State Funding and Project Details

The nonprofit, founded by Stockton Vice Mayor Jason Lee, received $12,440,337.83 from the California Department of Health Care Services. The funding will support the development of the I Am Ready Stockton Youth Center on South Center Street.

The facility will provide outpatient treatment services, peer support resources, and dedicated programming spaces for youth and families. It is projected to include a Community Mental Health Clinic with 40 treatment slots and serve about 550 individuals annually.

Services and Impact

A Peer Respite program will be part of the campus, offering voluntary short-term support with 20 beds. Additional areas will focus on youth programming and community services.

Construction is anticipated to be completed by January 2028. The center is expected to become a centralized hub for counseling, treatment services, and peer support.

Community Significance

This investment marks a significant milestone in providing mental health resources in underserved communities. According to Amelia Williamson, Managing Director of the foundation, the center will offer a safe space for guidance and support.
