Victoria Gotti's Plea for Son's Leniency: The Heartfelt Reason Behind It

Share Post

Victoria Gotti, daughter of crime boss John Gotti, has requested leniency for her son, Carmine Agnello, after he pleaded guilty to COVID-19 relief loan fraud. She argues that he should avoid prison because he plans to donate a kidney to her.

Appeal for Leniency

In a letter to the U.S. District Court, Victoria explained her chronic kidney condition and emphasized that her son is the only compatible donor. She emphasized the critical nature of his donation for her health.

Her son’s sentencing has been postponed, and defense attorney Steven Metcalf also urged the court to consider Agnello's key role in the transplant as a factor in their decision.

Court Proceedings

The prosecution, however, argued that being a kidney donor does not warrant avoiding incarceration and proposed 33 to 41 months in prison along with $1.25 million restitution.

Agnello had previously pleaded guilty in 2024 to fraud charges related to COVID-19 relief loans amounting to approximately $1.1 million.

Prosecutors' Stand

The Assistant U.S. Attorney stated that the Bureau of Prisons could manage any medical needs arising from his donation process. Meanwhile, prosecutors criticized Agnello for exploiting the pandemic for personal gain.
