Kobe Bryant's Struggles Revealed: What Trump Says He Did
Donald Trump recounted an incident nearly three decades ago where he intervened in a heated altercation involving Kobe Bryant during the NBA All-Star Weekend in New York. This confirms a long-standing story about the event.
Conversation with Jake Paul
Trump discussed the incident during a recent conversation with boxer and influencer Jake Paul. When asked if he had ever been involved in a fight, Trump mentioned the moment with the late Lakers star.
"That was a long time ago. Yeah, well I was breaking up a fight, which sometimes is more dangerous than being in a fight," Trump said.
The All-Star Weekend Altercation
The incident occurred during the 1998 NBA All-Star Weekend in New York. Sports writer Jeff Pearlman reported that Bryant was in an elevator with former NBA players Jayson Williams and Charles Oakley at the Grand Hyatt hotel, along with Trump.
Tensions arose when Williams reportedly felt disrespected by Bryant, leading to a quick escalation inside the elevator.
Trump's Role and Aftermath
Trump stated he defused the situation rather than contribute to it, helping calm things down before they worsened.
The estate of Kobe Bryant has not publicly responded to Trump's statements about the incident.
