Cheerleader's Snapchat Unveils Shocking Details in Newborn's Death
The Snapchat records of former University of Kentucky cheerleader Laken Snelling reveal details about the day her newborn infant died. Snelling was later indicted on charges including manslaughter and abuse of a corpse.
Incident Details
On August 27, 2025, around 4 a.m., one of Snelling’s roommates heard a loud noise. Court records show that Snapchat messages were used as evidence after police obtained a search warrant during their investigation into the infant's death.
A second roommate also heard noises and noticed they lasted about an hour. The roommates later discovered a blood-soaked towel and evidence of childbirth in Snelling’s closet, leading them to call the police.
Snelling's Account
Shortly after 9 a.m., Snelling informed her roommates via message that she had passed out due to not feeling well. She mentioned plans to see a doctor.
Upon questioning, Snelling admitted to giving birth and attempting to conceal it by disposing of items in a trash bag, including the infant wrapped in a towel.
Legal Proceedings
Snelling was indicted by a grand jury on March 10 on several charges, including first-degree manslaughter. Her baby was determined to have been alive at birth but died from asphyxia by undetermined means.
She was booked into Fayette County Detention Center and released on bond. An arraignment is scheduled for April 10.
