Selena's Sister Takes Legal Action Against SHEIN for Image Use Dispute
Suzette Quintanilla, sister of the late singer Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, has filed a lawsuit against the retailer SHEIN for allegedly selling clothing with Selena's image without permission.
Legal Action Taken
Court documents reveal that Suzette Quintanilla claims SHEIN listed apparel featuring Selena's likeness without securing approval from her family or their business, Q-Productions. The lawsuit suggests that this use violates their rights over Selena’s trademarks and intellectual property.
Previous Cease-and-Desist Notice
The complaint notes that a cease-and-desist notice was sent to SHEIN on August 1, 2025, requesting the removal of the items. Despite this, the merchandise reportedly remained available, leading to legal proceedings.
Selena's Legacy
The lawsuit seeks to halt the sales of these products and requests damages. This case is part of an ongoing effort by her estate to protect Selena's brand. Known as one of the most influential Latin music artists of the 1990s, Selena helped popularize Tejano music in the United States before her tragic death in 1995 at age 23.
