Maryland Couple Married 70 Years Dies Holding Hands After Crash

A Maryland couple married for 70 years passed away together after being seriously injured in a car accident. Kenneth and Marilyn Oland died holding hands six days after the crash.

Accident Details

On February 24, Kenneth Oland, 90, was driving a Ford Five Hundred when the vehicle was struck by a Chevrolet Cruze in Frederick County, Maryland. The crash occurred near US Route 15 and Hessong Bridge Road. Both Kenneth and his wife Marilyn suffered critical injuries.

The couple was transported to a trauma center in Baltimore for treatment. The driver of the Chevrolet Cruze was also hospitalized.

Final Moments

Despite efforts from medical staff, the injuries were too severe. On March 2, Kenneth and Marilyn were taken off life support. Hospital staff placed their beds side by side so they could hold hands as they passed away.

A Lasting Legacy

Kenneth and Marilyn had been together since 1955. In 1963, they moved to Thurmont, Maryland, where they raised three children and eventually welcomed five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren into their family.
