Stockton Vice Mayor's Foundation Gets $12.4M for Youth Health Center

Stockton Vice Mayor Jason Lee's Hollywood Cares Foundation has been awarded $12.4 million in funding by California Governor Gavin Newsom to construct a youth behavioral health center, expected to be completed by January 2028.

The grant from Governor Gavin Newsom comes through the California Department of Health Care Services' Behavioral Health Continuum Infrastructure Program, aimed at enhancing mental health services across the state. The funds are part of Proposition 1, a $6.4 billion bond approved by voters in 2024 to support mental health facilities.

I Am Ready Stockton Youth Center

The I Am Ready Stockton Youth Center will offer various services for young people in Stockton. It is designed to provide mental health services, afterschool programs, workforce and life-skills training, and a supportive environment for underprivileged youth.

Statements on the Award

Governor Newsom highlighted that Proposition 1 is helping transform California’s behavioral health system by creating over 6,800 treatment beds. Jason Lee emphasized the importance of investing in youth and overcoming political challenges to establish the center where it is needed most.
