A family is seeking answers after a 36-year-old man entered their 13-year-old daughter’s school and made unauthorized contact with her. The incident occurred at Gordon Parks Academy around 9:30 a.m. on Monday.

Authorities report the man gained access to the school building and spoke with the girl without parental consent. He returned on Tuesday, prompting staff to ask him to leave and contact police.

Suspect Identified and Arrested

The suspect, identified as Michael Arnold, was arrested by detectives from the Wichita Police Department’s Exploited and Missing Children’s Unit. Details on how he accessed the school or what was discussed remain unclear. The teen’s aunt, Nicole Kindred, shared concerns about the situation.

Kindred stated that Arnold became fixated on her niece after seeing her once last year while briefly working for the district. On Monday, he allegedly tried to remove her from school without permission.

The teenager reportedly extricated herself from the situation and informed a teacher of the encounter.

“She Doesn’t Feel Safe”

Despite Arnold's arrest, the family says the teen no longer feels secure returning to school. The suspect’s reappearance on campus has heightened their worries.

The investigation into the incidents continues.
