Lauryn Hill's Tax Troubles Resurface with Huge New Jersey Liens

Share Post

Lauryn Hill's tax debt is under scrutiny again as new records reveal she owes a substantial amount to the State of New Jersey. The New Jersey Division of Taxation has issued two tax liens against the singer.

Current Tax Liabilities

The recent filings show one lien for $133,246 and another significantly larger one for $758,912.02. Both liens are active in the state's system.

Hill’s team has stated that they are addressing the issue through a repayment plan with the state.

Impact of Canceled Tour

A spokesperson informed TMZ that Hill is complying with a repayment plan due to tax liabilities following the cancellation of a 2024 tour with the Fugees. The canceled tour disrupted expected revenue.

Past Tax Issues

Hill's tax troubles date back over a decade. In 2012, she pleaded guilty to failing to file tax returns on $1.8 million earned between 2005 and 2007. She served time in a federal facility in Connecticut, released in October 2013.

The current situation is reportedly being managed through an agreement with New Jersey authorities.
