According to The Wrap, Shawna Thomas will be leaving her role as executive producer this month, following news about Gayle King's agreement to remain with CBS Mornings when her contract expires in May. There has been discussion regarding potential changes under Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss’s leadership.

A Message to Staff

In a memo to staff, Shawna expressed that she had considered the decision for some time and was feeling tired. She highlighted her efforts to create a show that was engaging and educational for both the team and viewers.

Shawna has served as executive producer since 2021 and acknowledged how working on the show has made her more thoughtful and empathetic. She expressed gratitude for being part of creating numerous hours of television viewed by audiences nationwide.

Leadership Transition

Tom Cibrowski, President of CBS News, praised Shawna's contributions, noting her energy and clarity. In her absence, CBS Mornings' senior broadcast producer Jon Tower will take on an interim leadership role.
