Andy Dick's Brain Shows Damage After Frightening Overdose
Comedian Andy Dick's near-death experience last year was linked to a suspected fentanyl overdose. He has no memory of the incident, where he was found slumped on the street.
A CAT scan revealed holes in his brain, though having fentanyl in his system may have helped save his life. Narcan was used to revive him during the ordeal.
Andy Dick's Brain Injury Explained
The holes in Dick's brain are not related to substance abuse but stem from an assault in 2019. A representative stated that these lesions resulted from an attack outside a club where he had performed. Doctors believe his brain might eventually recover.
Lesions can occur due to various factors including injuries and chronic stress, as noted by the Cleveland Clinic.
Recent Incidents and Recovery
Before his most recent overdose, Dick reportedly went with friends and later smoked crack cocaine. He left rehab shortly after the event in January, following a period of recovery.
Currently, Andy Dick is sober and recovering well. Despite numerous past arrests for alleged assaults and public intoxication, he appears to be focusing on staying healthy.
