The stepson of reality TV star Duane Chapman, known as Dog the Bounty Hunter, was arrested in Florida for the fatal shooting of his teenage son, confirmed authorities.

Gregory Anthony Zecca, 39, was charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child with a firearm and using a firearm while under the influence after a long investigation into the death of his 13-year-old son, Anthony.

The shooting occurred in July 2025 during a gathering at a private residence in Naples, Florida, where Zecca, under the influence of alcohol and marijuana, mishandled a firearm, leading to the accidental discharge that killed his son.

Following the shooting, Zecca was put on a psychiatric hold due to mental health concerns. Officials emphasized that the delay in charges was due to the case's complexity and not a lack of seriousness.

Zecca faces severe penalties under Florida law for aggravated manslaughter and a separate charge related to using a firearm while impaired. The case has garnered attention due to Zecca's family connections, with Chapman and his wife expressing grief over the tragedy.

The investigation involved interviews, forensic testing, digital evidence analysis, and consultation with prosecutors before deciding to press charges. Authorities highlight the dangers of mixing firearms with alcohol or drugs, especially around children.
